JA Konrath Message Board

I've always wanted to message board, where fans could interact and newbie writers could ask questions.

My new website will launch soon, but in the meantime feel free to play on the board--it's awful lonely being the only one there.

As expected, I'll be answering questions, holding contests, dishing out advice, and goofing off.

Hope to see you there, and please spread the word.

  1. So this is how it's going to be? I put up a message board and no one comments on the blog? :)

Hi. I am a newbie writer who is now 150 pages into my debut novel and floundering through the difficult middle.

I will slog through, however, and as a sign of my optimism I ask a mundane question: where do you, or more accurately, where do editors in your experience stand on the Times New Roman v Courier
    question?

    Thanks and good wishes,

    Leona

  3. I use Times New Roman and/or Arial.

Courier is still used, because all of the characters are of equal size, making it easy to estimate the number of words in a book. But it's becoming rarer.

Gosh, that blog post on the new website was really rivetting! It may very well have changed my life.

Joe - the message board is great! I've already learned a few things and it has actually inspired me a little to sit down and continue on with my book.

Give it some time. I firmly believe that you will be surprised at how well it will take off.

  6. My registration was never approved. Clearly you've got the "Keep The Riff-Raff Out" setting on, which is going to seriously reduce your traffic.

I really like the approach of your site, especially the definition of the writer who never quits. Good on you and way to go!

  9. Hi there! I'm new, having followed a link from Elizabeth Bear's blog to one of your old posts.

Yes, someone DOES read the fine print!

I know someone who named his baby girl Jacqueline Danielle, so I find the name of your detective even more amusing than some folks might :-)
